This Privacy Policy explains how Rdea Pty. Ltd. (“Heero Kids”, “we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use our services. We are committed to protecting children and families and to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

We operate a location-aware game for children and families.

3. Information we collect
3.1 Account and gameplay
The live app creates an anonymous game account on your device. We do not ask for a parent email, phone number, or real name during sign-up.
Depending on how you play, we may process:
- An internal account identifier used only to keep you signed in
- A display name (we generate a nickname; you may change it once)
- Team, selected heero, heero progress and Energy, turf captures, gems, and similar in-game state
- A device recovery / transfer code so play can move to another device
- Technical logs when something fails (feature name, a short message, app version, device model and iOS version)
We do not collect age in the app today. A parent or guardian should still oversee a child’s account.
3.2 Location
Map play needs location while you use the app. The device sends coordinates to our servers when you capture turf or use other map actions so we can check that you are on the right tile.
What we store for gameplay:
- The map tile (a hex / zone) you were playing on
- A gameplay point used to place or validate that action (for example a capture attempt)
What other players see:
- Team turf colours, capture the flag, and display names on leaderboards or owned tiles
- Not a live GPS pin of another child
We do not keep a continuous movement trail of identifiable players for social or advertising purposes. You can turn location off in device settings; map features will not work without it.
3.3 NFC
When that feature is available in the app, the app can read physical pod stickers to unlock game content. We do not access your photo library, microphone, or contacts.
3.4 What we do not collect by design
We do not intend to collect or store:
- Home address, school name, or daily routines
- Government identifiers
- A public, precise, real-time location of a named child
- Device contacts or microphone audio
- Payment card numbers on our servers (when purchases are offered, Apple processes payment)
4. How we use information
We use information only to run and protect the service, including:
- Gameplay (map, turf, heeroes, teams, pods, and related features)
- Signing you in and stopping cheating or abuse
- Support, safety, and disabling unsafe pod stickers we are told about
- Fixing crashes and errors
- Complying with law
We do not use children’s personal information for unrelated direct marketing.
5. Children and parents
Heero Kids is made for children. We ask a parent or guardian to agree to our Terms and this policy and to decide location and NFC permissions on the device.
Defaults are conservative: no public live location of a child, no open chat from the map, and no requirement to use a real name.
If you think a child has given us information they should not have, email support@heero.kids. We will delete or restrict it where we reasonably can, subject to legal retention.
6. Who we share information with
We share information only:
- With service providers who help us operate the app, under arrangements that require them to protect it:
- Supabase — accounts and game data
- Mapbox — maps
- Apple — the App Store, device services, and (when offered) purchases
- When required by law
- To protect safety (serious risk of harm, fraud, or abuse)
- With your consent, or a parent or guardian’s consent where required
We do not sell personal information.
If information is stored or processed outside Australia, we take reasonable steps consistent with APP 8.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures (access controls, encryption in transit, limited staff access). No system is perfectly secure. Report concerns to support@heero.kids.
8. Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for gameplay, support, safety, or law, then delete or de-identify it.
9. Access, correction, and complaints
You may ask for access to personal information we hold about you and correction if it is wrong. Email support@heero.kids.
If we cannot resolve a privacy complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) — oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the “Last updated” date here and, for material changes, give an in-app notice where we reasonably can.
